For those days that are too calm or too windy (depending on your boating perspective), here are some nearby attractions:
The Captain Avery Museum is just under two miles from the club. Nestled on the West River, the charming historic home and waterfront property is the perfect destination for learning about the life and livelihood of a Chesapeake Bay waterman in the late 19th century.
The Smithsonian Environmental Research Center is 11 miles from the club and has several miles of walking/hiking trails and public access to the water for kayak launching. Check the center’s calendar of events for guided canoe trips, annual public open house in May, public lectures and much more.
Historic Annapolis is a 30-minute drive from CYC. Visit the U.S. Naval Academy, restaurants, shops, and events throughout the year.
Just across the West River, the West River Sailing Club hosts a Junior Fleet summer program that dates back to 1953. Many CYC Junior Fleet members have attended its week-long summer sessions.
